Job description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Highway Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Bloomfield, NJ office. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to be part of a project team, performing roadway and highway design, utilize CADD software, and apply AASHTO, NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority and/or county design standards.

Responsibilities include design and preparation of contract documents for roadway improvement projects for various clients including the NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, counties, and various other public and private sector clients.


  • Currently pursuing BS in Civil Engineering.

  • Familiarity with NJDOT and NJ Turnpike Authority design standards and practices.

  • Familiarity with AASHTO and MUTCD.

  • Proficiency in MS Office software, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in team environment.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.
