A Software Developer Full Stack Developer is a professional who is skilled in both front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) development. They are capable of designing, building, and maintaining all layers of a web application, from user interfaces and user experiences to servers, databases, and application logic. Full stack developers are valuable for their ability to handle multiple aspects of software projects, making them versatile team members. They typically work with a variety of programming languages, frameworks, and technologies to deliver complete, functional applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a software developer full stack developer?

Focus: Full Stack Development / AI-Assisted Software EngineeringPosition Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Full Stack Developer to join a fast-moving engineering team building modern applications in an AI-first development environment.

This role requires strong traditional software engineering fundamentals combined with the ability to work effectively with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows. AI will generate and accelerate a meaningful portion of the development process, but the engineer must have the technical depth to evaluate that output, identify problems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the resulting software meets production-level engineering, architecture, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack engineer who is curious, independent, comfortable working across the technology stack, and able to quickly understand the business domain behind the applications they are building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deliver full-stack application features across front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Build modern web applications using React, JavaScript/Node.js, AWS, Lambda, and GraphQL.
  • Work within an AI-enabled/agentic software development lifecycle, using AI throughout requirements analysis, specification development, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Review and validate AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, scalability, security, and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Identify architectural, design-pattern, and code-quality issues that may not be apparent from simply executing generated code.
  • Translate product and business requirements into clear technical specifications and implementation plans.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business domain to identify requirements, dependencies, edge cases, and potential issues early in the development lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively in small engineering teams or pairs to deliver complete features from requirements through production.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues across the full technology stack.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering teams, product partners, internal stakeholders, and clients.
  • Contribute to the continued development of engineering standards and AI-assisted development practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong full-stack software development experience with solid knowledge of both front-end and back-end engineering.
  • Strong experience with React and JavaScript.
  • Experience developing backend applications using Node.js.
  • Experience working with AWS, including serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda.
  • Experience with APIs and technologies such as GraphQL.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, coding standards, and software development best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to review, troubleshoot, and improve code rather than simply produce working code.
  • Ability to independently analyze requirements and identify technical considerations, dependencies, and potential gaps.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools or agentic AI development workflows.
  • Experience with tools such as Claude Code or comparable AI coding environments.
  • Experience using AI to synthesize requirements, generate specifications, implement features, troubleshoot issues, or accelerate development.
  • Familiarity with Human Capital Management (HCM), payroll, HR technology, or workforce management domains.
  • Previous experience with ADP or organizations operating in similar HCM/payroll environments is beneficial.
  • Experience working on teams where engineers own complete features across the technology stack.
