Lead Software Developer
Company:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Developer to join the Ground Software Engineering team located in El Segundo, CA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Satellite Systems Software Engineering organization.
Our team creates the software tools and services for the world's highest performing satellite/ground systems for USG and Commercial customers. This role will be part of Boeing's recently awarded ESS program.
This exciting position requires demonstrated experience with the software development full life cycle (requirements, design, code, test, review), ability to lead a team with clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities for multiple software programming projects. Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are required.
Responsibilities:
  • Apply advanced job principles, theories, and concepts to develop highly advanced satellite ground real time software
  • Recognize and act as an expert and technical lead engineer within the product, providing guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Focus on collaborating across multiple teams and working on an Integrated Product Team (IPT)
  • Initiate assignments and determine technical objectives to achieve desired results, often acting independently to uncover and resolve issues.
  • Lead software development, facilitate code reviews, and provide technical guidance on software standards and design principles.
  • Develop information that extends knowledge in a given field, forming the basis of newly developed concepts, theories, and products.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience developing complex software applications and algorithmic solutions
  • 5+ years of experience with Java or C++ object-oriented programming
  • 1+ years of experience leading software development
  • Experience in a cloud computing environment e.g. Azure/AWS/Google Cloud
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance (Interim prestart, final post start)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle that includes requirements analysis through formal qualification
  • Experience in coaching teams with software best practices, design principles, and coding standards.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance
