Description

Sherpa Air MRO is seeking an experienced Avionics Integration Manager to lead the development and execution of the company's avionics integration and aircraft modernization capabilities. Reporting directly to the Director of Maintenance, this position serves as the organization's technical authority for avionics modifications, Garmin system integration, installation planning, and avionics project execution.

The Avionics Integration Manager develops technically sound avionics solutions, supports customer engagements, and provides the technical content required for accurate and competitive avionics quotations. The position works closely with Business Operations, Planning, Production, Quality, and Business Development to ensure projects are properly engineered, competitively quoted, efficiently executed, and completed in compliance with FAA regulations.


Responsibilities:

Avionics Technical Leadership

  • Serve as Sherpa Air's technical expert for avionics integration and aircraft modernization.
  • Develop avionics system architectures and integration concepts.
  • Evaluate aircraft configurations and recommend Garmin and other avionics solutions.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, STC holders, DERs, and engineering organizations.
  • Maintain knowledge of avionics technologies and certification requirements.

Technical Quote Development

  • Serve as the technical lead for avionics quote development by providing the engineering and installation expertise required to develop accurate, executable, and competitive customer proposals.
  • Define system architecture, equipment configuration, installation scope, labor estimates, material requirements, certification considerations, and project schedules.
  • Develop Bills of Material (BOMs) and installation labor estimates.
  • Review aircraft compatibility and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate with Business Operations and Sales on complete customer proposals.
  • Participate in customer meetings to explain technical solutions and upgrade options.

Engineering & Integration

  • Develop installation concepts and technical work packages.
  • Review wiring diagrams, electrical loads, and interface requirements.
  • Coordinate STCs, FAA approvals, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop installation standards and work instructions.
  • Support troubleshooting of complex avionics integration issues.

Installation Oversight

  • Provide technical oversight for avionics modification projects.
  • Support Production and Maintenance personnel during installations.
  • Configure, test, and validate Garmin avionics systems.
  • Coordinate operational testing and return-to-service documentation.

Avionics Program Development

  • Assist the Director of Maintenance in developing Sherpa Air's avionics capabilities.
  • Develop standardized upgrade packages.
  • Coordinate tooling, software, and OEM training.
  • Maintain avionics installation procedures and standards.

Business Development Support

  • Support customer meetings and technical presentations.
  • Identify avionics upgrade opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with Garmin, OEMs, distributors, and engineering partners.

Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.
  • Minimum seven years of aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Minimum five years of avionics installation and integration experience.
  • Demonstrated Garmin avionics experience.
  • Ability to develop labor estimates and technical proposals.
  • Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and wiring practices.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL).
  • Garmin factory or dealer training.
  • Experience with Part 135 operations and STC/DER processes.
