At Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee, athletics are an extension of the classroom. We believe sports provide opportunities to develop leadership, resilience, teamwork, and character that last far beyond the final whistle. We're seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic Varsity Assistant Soccer Coach who is excited to mentor student-athletes, support our coaching staff, and contribute to a positive, competitive, and mission-centered program.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Varsity Assistant Soccer Coach supports the Head Coach in developing a competitive, positive, and mission-centered soccer program. This role focuses on assisting with practices, game preparation, skill development, and mentoring student-athletes while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, and personal growth.

The successful candidate will support the Catholic and Jesuit mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee by helping student-athletes develop athletic skills, confidence, resilience, and character. The Assistant Coach serves as a positive role model, helping create an environment where students can grow academically, socially, spiritually, and athletically.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, competitions, and team activities.
  • Provide instruction on soccer fundamentals, skill development, and game strategy.
  • Support the development of a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture that reflects the values of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee.
  • Mentor student-athletes by encouraging personal growth, teamwork, accountability, and sportsmanship.
  • Help supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team travel.
  • Assist with game preparation, equipment management, and other program logistics.
  • Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, student-athletes, families, and the Athletic Department.
  • Support compliance with school, conference, and WIAA policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for Cristo Rey Jesuit High School both on and off the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Previous soccer coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of soccer fundamentals, player development, and game strategy.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing high school student-athletes.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and Athletic Department.
  • Commitment to fostering academic success, character development, and sportsmanship.
  • Support for the Catholic and Jesuit mission and values of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee.
  • Ability to complete required background checks, Safe Environment training, and applicable WIAA coaching requirements.
  • First Aid, CPR/AED, and Concussion Awareness certifications (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
