Job description

OPPORTUNITY 03 — SOC / MDR ANALYST

Summary Description
Put your watch-standing, intelligence analysis, or signals experience to work in a civilian Security Operations Center. This 16-week SkillBridge internship, administered by Veteran Workforce Solutions in partnership with Covenant HR, embeds transitioning service members in a live SOC or Managed Detection & Response environment — developing proficiency in threat monitoring, alert triage, and incident response with a strong probability of full-time employment upon completion.

Job Description
The SOC / MDR Analyst SkillBridge participant operates within a Covenant HR employer partner's security operations environment. Under the supervision of a designated SOC or MDR industry mentor, the participant conducts alert triage, SIEM platform operations, threat detection, and incident response support across a 16-week structured program. Training progresses from SOC environment orientation and threat fundamentals through behavioral analytics, threat hunting, and detection engineering, culminating in a live analyst desk capstone where the participant manages real alerts with minimal supervision. The program concludes with a performance debrief, employment offer discussion, and a credentialing roadmap aligned to CompTIA Sec+, CySA+, GCIA, or relevant SANS certification pathways.

Eligibility Factors

  • Must be an active-duty service member within 180 days of separation or retirement
  • Must have unit commanding officer approval to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program

  • Relevant MOS/rate/AFSC: 35N, CTN, CTI, 1N4, 1B4, 3D0X2, 0231, 2621
  • Active Secret clearance preferred; not required
  • Personnel with NOC, network operations, or 24/7 shift operations experience from any MOS are encouraged to apply
  • Must be able to operate in a remote or hybrid work environment
  • No prior civilian cybersecurity certification required
