Location: Downtown Toronto, ON (Onsite, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Duration: 4-Month Contract (Strong Potential for Extension)

Next Pathway is seeking an experienced Snowflake Platform Engineer to support a major enterprise client that is building a new Snowflake environment from the ground up. This is not a migration project; the successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing administration, optimization, governance, and operational management of a newly established Snowflake platform.


This role is ideal for a hands-on Snowflake professional who enjoys platform engineering, performance tuning, security management, and ensuring a highly available and well-governed data environment.


Responsibilities

Snowflake Platform Administration

  • Manage and maintain the client’s Snowflake environment on a day-to-day bas
  • is.Configure and administer Snowflake accounts, virtual warehouses, databases, schemas, and objects
  • Monitor platform health, usage, performance, and resource consumption
  • Implement and maintain Snowflake best practices and operational standards.


Performance Tuning & Optimization

  • Analyze workloads and query performance to identify optimization opportunities
  • Tune virtual warehouses for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor storage utilization and compute consumption.
  • Recommend and implement performance improvements across the platform.


Security & Access Management

  • Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and access controls.
  • Implement and maintain role-based access control (RBAC) frameworks.
  • Support governance, compliance, and security requirements.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of user access and platform security settings.


Platform Operations & Support

  • Troubleshoot platform issues and resolve operational incidents.
  • Provide support to data engineers, analysts, and businessusers.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to support ongoing platform growth and adoption.


Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in data platform administration, cloud data warehousing, or data engineering.
  • 2+ years of hands-on Snowflake administration experience.
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, security model, and platform operations.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of data warehouse concepts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with client stakeholders.

Experience managing:

  • Users, roles, and permissions
  • Virtual warehouses
  • Resource monitoring and governance
  • Performance tuning and optimization


Preferred Qualifications

  • SnowPro Certification (Core or Advanced).
  • Experience implementing Snowflake governance and security frameworks.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools.

  • Knowledge of data engineering and modern data platform best practices.
