Environmental Resources Group

Landscape Laborer

Location: McLean, Virginia (on-site at a secure government facility)

Work Outdoors. Build Your Skills. Make Every Detail Count.

Since 1989, Environmental Resources Group (ERG) has provided dependable landscaping, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and environmental services throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Based in Burtonsville, Maryland, and serving commercial and government properties across Northern Virginia and the surrounding region, ERG is known for experienced teams, quality service, and year-round reliability.

ERG is hiring a dependable Landscape Laborer to support year-round grounds maintenance at a secure government facility in Langley, Virginia. Working under the direction of a supervisor or crew leader, you will help maintain lawns, planting areas, walkways, and other outdoor spaces to a high professional standard. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in physical work, follows instructions, and works well as part of a crew. Professional landscaping experience is preferred, but dependable candidates with relevant outdoor labor experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with extended hours required during snow and severe-weather events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, pruning, mulching, planting, leaf removal, and cleanup.
  • Operate commercial landscaping tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Load, unload, move, and organize tools, materials, plants, and debris.
  • Keep lawns, beds, walkways, and common areas neat, safe, and presentable.
  • Follow crew-leader instructions and complete assigned work efficiently.
  • Inspect tools before use and report equipment damage or maintenance needs.
  • Follow all company safety practices and site-specific security and access procedures.
  • Assist with seasonal projects and other grounds maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Participate in snow and ice removal operations, including long or irregular shifts that may continue until the site is fully cleared.

Qualifications

  • Professional landscaping, grounds maintenance, construction, or outdoor labor experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with mowers, trimmers, blowers, hand tools, or other landscape equipment is a plus.
  • Dependable attendance and the ability to report to the site on time for an early-morning shift.
  • Ability to follow directions, work productively with a team, and maintain quality standards.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, lifting, and carrying throughout the shift.
  • Availability for the regular Monday-Friday schedule and extended snow-removal assignments.
  • Must satisfy all government-facility eligibility, identity, background-screening, and access requirements applicable to this assignment. The current contract requires U.S. citizenship, including naturalized citizenship.

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-Time
  • Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Two weeks of paid vacation.
  • Five paid sick days.
  • Consistent Monday-Friday schedule, approximately 5:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., weather permitting
  • Additional hours may be available during snow and severe-weather events.
  • Health insurance is not currently offered; ERG is working toward adding health benefits as the company grows.

Why Environmental Resources Group?

ERG offers the stability of an established company, the support of experienced field leaders, and the opportunity to build valuable landscaping and property-maintenance skills. Your work will directly contribute to the safety, appearance, and function of an important client property.
