Job description

Title: Seasonal Snow Plow Driver
Status: Seasonal. On-Call
Compensation: $20.00 per hour when called in for snow event support
Description

The City of Fishers is seeking temporary drivers to plow snow this season. Make extra money during the long, cold winter and help make the roads safe for drivers by joining the best snow removal team in the state.
This is a seasonal, on-call position that will only be called to duty during City winter weather events. Shifts are 12 hours and will typically be nights from 9pm-9am, or day shifts 9am - 9pm. Start times of shifts are not flexible but end times of shifts can be flexible based on your availability. If you cannot work a full 12 hour shift, please apply and let us know your availability when we contact you. Paid training sessions will be held on November 20th and December 18th. Only one session is required.

The City will provide the snow plow equipment - personal vehicles will not be used. If substantial snowfall or ice is expected, this additional staff will be placed on-call with as much advance notice as possible. Once committed to on-call status, drivers will be expected to be rested and ready to work their full shift if called upon. This position will typically be asked to plow subdivisions and parking lots.

Rate of Pay: $20.00 hourly

  • Prepare roads for snow event as needed
  • Use City equipment for snow removal needs. No personal vehicle use required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana driver's license (CDL not required);
  • 3 years of experience as a licensed driver required not including learner's permit timeframe;
  • Ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle (driving records will be checked);
  • Minimum of 18 years old;
  • Basic vehicle knowledge;
  • Plowing experience preferred, but not required.

Supplemental Information

  • Paid training will be provided which includes classroom presentation, video, and ride along as needed.
