The Public Assistance Division of the Prince William County Department of Social Services is seeking a full-time Senior Human Services Specialist to join our Public Assistance team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with individuals and families, guiding them through the eligibility determination process for SNAP and Medical Assistance programs.

About This Role:
In this role, you will review applications and determine eligibility for SNAP and Medicaid based on program policies. You will conduct interviews, verify applicant details, and deliver compassionate customer service while explaining program benefits. Additionally, you will handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D and 4 years of experience determining eligibility for public assistance programs in VACMS.
Preferences:
- 4 or more years of experience determining eligibility for SNAP using VaCMS
- 4 or more years of experience determining eligibility for MAGI and Families & Children Medicaid using VaCMS
- 2 years of experience independently troubleshooting and successfully resolving VaCMS system issues
Special Requirements (if applicable):
- All DSS staff are required to provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster.
- Candidates must pass criminal history, child protective services, and DMV background checks.
- Resource/foster parents for youth in the Prince William foster-care program may not be employed by the Prince William Department of Social Services. Resource/foster parents for youth from other localities are welcome to apply.
- Staff in this position must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive for work.
Work Schedule:
37.5-hour work week; manager will determine specific work schedule (sometime between 8:00 and 5:00 pm).
This is a telework-eligible role that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change. Employees who telework must have adequate workspace and internet connection.
Hiring Salary Range: $65,910.00 - $92,907.75 Annually
