Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: To oversee all aspects of production including mixing, baking, and packing of products.  Institute the direction and goals of the Plant Manager to create a culture and process that identifies and maintains continuous improvement of yield, efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and safety.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Implement and enforce policy, procedures, and culture consistent with the Plant Manager's direction that control and improve: 
  • Production yield and efficiency of facility against standard 
  • Safety 
  • Quality 
  • Leadership 
  • Cleanliness 
  • Food Safety 
  • Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures 
  • Employee ownership and understanding of product and process and overall teambuilding. 
  • Employee Welfare 
  • Continuously take independent action, perform daily analysis, and provide corrective action recommendations to: 
  • Manufacturing performance 
  • Operating budget 
  • Safety 
  • Quality 
  • Cleanliness 
  • Yield & Efficiency 
  • Develops, maintains, and adjusts production standards and specifications to reflect processes over three shifts. 
  • Partners with Human Resources to develop and enforce Company rules, mission, and policies in a fair and consistent manner as well as develop long term goals and values that maintain a positive and diverse culture in the workplace.   
  • Develop specific training needs inside the organization and effective plans to bring awareness and education. 
  • Develop and manage subordinates including Production Managers, Supervisors and Leads to maintain production and staffing needs.   
  • Effectively bridge communication gaps between all shifts. 
  • Interact with Quality Manager and customer auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customer specifications. 
  • Adhere to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures. 
  • Responsible for food safety and quality. 
  • Other tasks as assigned. 

COMPETENCIES:  

To perform this job successfully, the Production Manager must be self-motivated, able to problem solve, detail-oriented, and able to stay on task. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot 3-phase AC motors and drives. 
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and machine drawings. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. 
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 
  • Manage and delegate several projects at one time. 
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines on short notices. 
  • Passion and alignment with Company mission, vision, values, and operating principles. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • A bachelor's degree in business or related field or at least seven years of prior experience in managing large departments for consumer product manufacturer. 
  • Five years or more experience managing supervisors on more than one shift. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors. 
  • Experience in quality system audits. 
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
