Job description

SMT Feeder Setup Technician

Step onto our production floor in South Elgin, IL and help power high-quality PCB assembly through precise surface-mount preparation. As our SMT Feeder Setup Technician, you’ll stage materials, build out feeder carts, and keep changeovers moving so the line never misses a beat.

A day in the life

You arrive for your shift and review the queue of upcoming builds. You load and verify component feeders for pick-and-place equipment, stage materials for the next job, and collaborate with operators to keep changeovers fast and accurate. When a new run is called, you pull the right parts from the stockroom and overflow areas using pick lists, ensuring everything is labeled, tracked, and ready for placement. Throughout the day, you apply IPC SMT standards, reference assembly drawings, and solve small problems before they become big ones.

Role basics
  • Employment type: Temp to hire
  • Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 depending on experience
  • Hours: 1st shift 7:00am - 3:30pm; 2nd shift 4:00pm - 12:30am (part-time available on 2nd shift)
  • Training: Training will be on 1st shift for a few weeks
  • Location: South Elgin, IL
What you’ll do
  • Set up and tear down component feeders for SMT pick-and-place machines
  • Stage feeders and materials for upcoming jobs
  • Assist operators with machine changeovers

What you bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of SMT equipment experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic component identification
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and data entry)
  • Familiarity with IPC SMT placement and soldering standards
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and problem-solving ability
