Job Title: SMT/AOI Machine Operator

Job Description

This full-time SMT/AOI Machine Operator role focuses on setting up, operating, and adjusting SMT and AOI equipment used in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing. You will work with minimal supervision to maintain high production quality, support technical programming for SMT processes, and ensure that all equipment runs within established manufacturing standards in a climate-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment set-up, operation, and adjustment for products of varying complexity with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate with other team members to set up SMT machines according to documented set-up sheets.
  • Operate Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) equipment, preferably Kohyoung systems, to detect defects such as soldering issues and misaligned components.
  • Provide programming and technical support for SMT process equipment used in PCBA manufacturing, including marking, solder paste printing, solder paste inspection, pick-and-place machines (Fuji preferred), and reflow ovens.
  • Ensure the board loader and feeders remain continuously loaded with the correct parts to support uninterrupted production.
  • Prepare for upcoming production runs by loading feeders for the next job before they are needed.
  • Monitor machine rejects on a daily basis to ensure defective parts are properly sorted and re-run as required.
  • Maintain processes and equipment within acceptable company manufacturing standards and specifications.
  • Perform quality auditing and testing activities to verify that assembled PCBs meet required quality criteria.
  • Conduct basic machine troubleshooting to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime.
  • Support electronic manufacturing and conformal coating processes as needed to meet production requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with SMT production and machine operation in an electronic manufacturing or PCB assembly environment.
  • Proficiency operating AOI and SPI equipment, preferably Kohyoung systems, for inspection of solder joints and component placement.
  • Experience supporting SMT process equipment, including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines (Fuji preferred), reflow ovens, and related PCBA manufacturing tools.
