Description

Position: Smoke Shop Clerk

Reports to: Smoke Shop Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Smoke Shop. They complete many duties in order to maintain the Smoke Shop, which include attending to and assisting customers, accepting payments, stocking the shelves and maintaining station organization, preparing any hot food and maintaining the balance of the cash drawer.


Essential Duties:

  • Ensures satisfactory customer service by greeting customers and assisting them with any needs or questions.
  • Conducts a physical count of drawer at beginning and end of assigned shift and verify all monies, receipts, and transactions made.
  • Ensures all paperwork is correct, signed and verified by attending supervisor.
  • Stocks store shelves, organizes, and straightens items to maintain a presentable appearance to the customers.
  • Maintains proper levels of inventory, communicates low inventory levels to the Manager or Supervisor for ordering.
  • Maintains proper attendance in accordance with internal policy. Reports to work on time, and/or provides adequate notice to supervisor prior to absence or lateness in accordance with policy.
  • Assists in resolving customer and employee concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
  • Cash handling experience, previous cashier experience preferred.
  • Prior retail experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess excellent communication skills. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of merchandise in store and available for any training deemed necessary. 
  • Ability to communicate verbally in English.
  • Understand and comply with all Company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • The ability to follow instruction and have the ability to perform assigned tasks under limited supervision.
  • Must be able to effectively work alone and or with other employees in a team environment.

  • Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer.

  • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
  • Physical agility to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs/ladders, work in small spaces, walk, reach and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Requires occasional heavy physical work; pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to elements, such as dirt dust, fumes, smoke, flashing lights and loud noises.
  • May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
