Job Summary
Mariposa County Unified School District is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative educator to serve as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), providing leadership, coordination, and instructional support at Mariposa County High School. This position supports a three-year implementation plan to become a Smithsonian STEAM School of Distinction. The TOSA will collaborate with school administration, teachers, students, district leadership, UC Merced K-12 Outreach, community partners, and the Smithsonian Science for Global Goals initiative. Responsibilities include building staff capacity, coordinating interdisciplinary instruction, developing community partnerships, monitoring implementation, and supporting the school in meeting Smithsonian Schools of Distinction expectations.
This is a grant-funded position for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years; continuation is contingent upon funding.
This position is part of the Certificated Teacher Unit at MCUSD/MCOE and will be placed depending on experience and education on the Certificated Teacher Unit Employee Salary schedule.
PLEASE NOTE THE 2026-27 SALARY SCHEDULE IS PENDING - SALARY IS CURRENTLY BASED ON THE 2025-26 SALARY SCHEDULE.

The Mariposa County Unified School District is located in Mariposa County and serves grades K-12. With approximately 1,700 students, the area consists of several necessary small schools, K-8 schools, and one comprehensive high school. Mariposa County has several rural communities that surround Yosemite National Park and are centrally located in California to provide a day's drive to old-growth forests, deserts, coastal communities, and cities. The area is suited for those interested in outdoor activities and rural community life, including an Arts Council and Symphony Orchestra right here in the town of Mariposa!
