Packsmart Operator

Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities of the Packsmart operator will be to set up, operate, and troubleshoot machinery to produce high-quality products while leading a team of employees to successfully meet production goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Safely and with high quality, operate production machinery with a primary focus on the packsmart machine

  • Train general machine operators on safe and proper machine set up and operation

  • Instruct and lead a team of 4+ employees

  • Safely make physical adjustments to the machine

  • Understand how machines work, mechanical knowledge to be able to troubleshoot, adjust settings accordingly, and perform necessary repairs

  • Read and understand data

  • Review first article, data proofs, and other production paperwork

  • Audit quality for operations on each side of the running machine.

  • Audit work instructions are being followed for safety, quality, and production throughout.

  • Set-up work area/machines with no assistance

  • Can make camera adjustments

  • Perform these and other duties assigned by Supervisor or other appropriate management personnel

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 3+ years’ experience in a progressive, high-volume manufacturing environment

  • Preferred experience on complex machinery with folder gluers with camera inspection systems (ex. Otto Kunnecke Machines, Precision Redline machines, Kirk Rudy machines, Massman Automation)

  • Advanced math and reading skills and must be able to read and understand work and safety instructions in English

  • Ability to manage multiple activities at different stages of complexity

  • Developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong organization skills combined with structured problem solving and the ability to determine root cause, containment, and corrective actions

  • Proficient computer skills/knowledge

  • Must be proficient in Excel

Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00 depending on experience

The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
