Job description

Title: TEAP Specialist/Drug & Alcohol Counselor
Reports to: Health and Wellness Manager

Job DescriptionSummary

Responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of a comprehensive Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP), in compliance with government, corporate and management directives.

Essential Functions
  1. Provides direct services to students with identified substance abuse patterns.
  2. Implements a program to provide the center with identification, intervention and alternatives to alcohol and other drugs of abuse.
  3. Assesses staff needs and provides education and training regarding identification, referrals and appropriate treatment for substance abuse patterns.
  4. Works closely with the Security, Career Counseling staff, Social Development staff and Career Development Services staff regarding identification and reporting of substance abuse patterns.
  5. Develops and implements a community network of resources and volunteers to supplement the TEAP Program.
  6. Develops and implements a TUPP program and leads the center in its efforts to become a non-smoking environment.
  7. Documents all student training sessions in SHR.
  8. Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.
  9. Acts as a responsible custodian for assigned center property.
  10. Reports violations of ethical behavior.
  11. Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
  12. Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.
RequirementsRequired Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, and Psychology or closely related field with a minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
Certifications/Competencies
  • Knowledge of and the ability to relate to the lifestyles of economically disadvantaged and culturally diverse youth.
  • Must be certified or qualified for certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor in the center’s state.
Minimum Eligibility Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
  • I-9 documentation is required, to verify authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
