Job description

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Smart Mobility Product Initiative. This position will be based in our Albuquerque, NM office.

Summary

Passionate about the Smart Cities space? Interested in building better solutions for how people move and live their lives? Perhaps this is the role for you!

TransCore is seeking an accomplished and innovative Senior Electrical Engineer to play a foundational role in our Smart Mobility Product Initiative. This position is a true “zero-to-one” opportunity, responsible for shaping the electrical architecture and technical execution of a next-generation mobility platform reaching millions of users globally.

In this role, you will serve as a technical owner and thought leader, translating high-level product and system requirements into robust, manufacturable, and scalable electronic designs. You will work closely with systems, firmware, product, and operations teams to balance performance, cost, reliability, and regulatory constraints while delivering production-ready solutions.

TransCore is uniquely positioned to drive meaningful impact in smart cities and mobility infrastructure. Join us to define the electrical foundation of products that will shape the future of transportation technology.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will own the design, development, validation, and sustainment of electrical components, equipment, and systems across new product development and existing product platforms, providing technical leadership from concept through production and field support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead the design and implementation of complex digital and mixed-signal circuits, making architectural tradeoffs across performance, cost, power, and manufacturability.
  • Define and maintain schematic capture and PCB design standards using CAD tools, ensuring design quality, reuse, and consistency across products.
  • Define test strategies, validation plans, and acceptance criteria for electrical assemblies; oversee execution and ensure results are clearly documented and actionable.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex electrical issues, leading root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, and system boundaries.
  • Evaluate and select components with consideration for availability, lifecycle risk, regulatory compliance, and supply-chain constraints.
  • Author and review engineering documentation including design specifications, schematics, test plans, and manufacturing support artifacts.
  • Develop realistic schedules, assess technical risk, and communicate tradeoffs to engineering leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Perform other duties as directed by TransCore management.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the electrical engineering discipline.
  • Participate in design reviews and establish best practices for hardware development.
  • Support manufacturing, certification, and field deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, fabrication partners, and certification bodies.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable safety, EMC, and regulatory standards.

Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university.
  • Minimum 10-13 years of related experience.
  • Experience leading hardware designs from concept through production.
  • Experience with design reviews, failure analysis, and field issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in system-level troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and software integration boundaries.
  • Broad knowledge of electronic circuits/schematics and hardware design.
  • Expert in using electrical bench test equipment and instruments to diagnose, troubleshoot, and verify the performance of electrical components and systems.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office Software.
