Overview
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager - Commercial Nuclear - Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.

  • AtkinsRéalis US Nuclear is the subsidiary of AtkinsRéalis focused on serving government and commercial clients within the Nuclear sector in the United States.

  • The US Commercial Nuclear business unit serves both legacy and new build nuclear clients who are designing, building, upgrading, operating and maintaining nuclear power generation and fuel cycle assets.
  • We are a growing business, building on the foundation of our US government fuel cycle business, our international position as an Original Equipment Manufactor (OEM) and nuclear reactor technology provider, and our world-wide nuclear new build and legacy nuclear fleet maintenance experience.
  • We are seeking an Area Project Manager to join our team. The candidate is required to manage the design and development of the nuclear island/nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) on Small Modular Reactor projects for Nuclear plants.
  • Leads a cross functional, matrixed engineering and licensing team for major small modular reactor systems and subsystems.
  • Receives general administrative direction. Executes independent decisions and resolves important questions concerning the design and development of the small modular reactor.
  • Interfaces with senior technical managers, program manager, and all levels of management throughout the firm.
  • Coordinates with management to identify staffing needs, deficiencies and opportunities for recruitment of required staff.
  • Assists in the identification, screening, recruitment and orientation of qualified candidates to fill key vacancies.
  • Leads initiatives with considerable risk and complexity; develops the related strategy for execution.
  • Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop unprecedented solutions.
  • Impacts the direction and resource allocation for initiatives, projects or services; works within general functional policies.
  • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Implements risk management strategies for area of responsibility.
  • Tracks key performance indicators such as earned value metrics.
  • Ensures activities adhere to strict nuclear quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Conducts regular reviews of project status, risks and performance with program manager and client.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About you
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of fifteen years post-baccalaureate experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing individuals or teams.
  • Strong communication skills in a challenging, multi-tiered environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster and achieve goal alignment among participants with differing interests.
  • Knowledge of key design standards and licensing requirements for commercial nuclear facilities required.
  • Professional registration or licensure in nuclear-related field of practice desired.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable.
  • Senior design professional or manager on Commercial nuclear reactor projects preferred.
  • Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
