Position at Jackson Family Wines
Join the La Crema Winery Team for Harvest 2026! We are located in the heart of the Russian River Valley of Northern California with over 40 years of history producing acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. More recently, we added Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon to the portfolio making La Crema winery a great place to learn the fundamentals of winemaking. We pride ourselves in our hands on approach to winemaking that results in remarkable wines.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, this position includes installations, repairs, preventative, and emergency maintenance on a wide variety of winemaking and facility equipment. Additionally, the technician will perform repairs and maintenance on support equipment, buildings, landscapes, fixtures, and systems at two winery properties in the Russian River Valley. This position will include driving between the facilities. The candidate should have availability to work 6 days a week from August through November, including overtime.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
  • Perform mechanical tasks, such as lubrication, filter replacement, and mechanical repairs to pumps, compressors, HVAC, and various equipment.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair winery equipment, which may include welding, PLCs, electrical, plumbing, and machining.
  • Review service requests for repairs, and maintenance, determine nature, and recommend/perform appropriate solutions.
  • Use technical publications to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Conduct limited technical inspections on winery equipment and perform required preventative maintenance actions.
  • Perform predictive maintenance on winery equipment.
  • Perform conduct corrective maintenance on winery equipment.
  • Assist in the movement of materials and equipment as required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Assure safety standards that are used to comply with all company, city, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Perform any other task as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be a self-starter and work with limited supervision.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have good computer skills in Windows platform and the ability to learn PLC logics.
  • Be able to read and write English and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Be able to read and understand technical manuals and publications.
  • Be able to read various types of gauges, meters and operate test equipment.
  • Be able to consistently prioritize safety in the workplace
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary during Harvest season, including weekends and evenings.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
2 - 3 years winery or related industrial maintenance experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, or the equivalent technical training. Must have a thorough knowledge of mechanical systems as they relate to equipment including hydraulics, air systems, vacuum systems, air conditioning, refrigeration, etc. Must be organized with good follow-through and time management skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop, and kneel, and be able to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work overhead and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must have a valid California driver's license.
WAGE TRANSPARENCY:
The base pay for this role ranges from $24.50 -$29.50 per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
