Meet the Teamย 

Accurate andย highly availableย information about vehicle motion and position is fundamental to the safe operation of autonomous trucks. Core capabilities such asย perception, prediction, planning, and control depend on reliable ego-motion and localization estimates to ensure safe and efficient vehicle behavior.ย 

The Ego-Motion & Localization Team developsย the algorithmsย and software responsible for estimating vehicle pose, velocity, and acceleration in real time. Our solutions fuse information from multiple sensors andย maintainย robust performance despite sensor imperfections, environmental challenges, and system degradation. As part of this team, you will help develop and deploy production-ready localization and sensor fusion solutions while gaining firsthand experience with the challenges of bringing autonomous vehicle technology to real-world commercial applications.ย 

Whatย You'llย Doย 

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy production software for ego-motion estimation and localization systems used in autonomous trucks.ย 
  • Develop robust and efficient solutions using modern C++ and Python across the full software development lifecycle.ย 
  • Design, implement, and improve state estimation and sensor fusion algorithms for vehicle pose, velocity, and acceleration estimation.ย 
  • Analyze real-world vehicle data to evaluate system performance and identify opportunities for improvement.ย 
  • Develop verification and validation strategies to ensure software quality, reliability, and safety.ย 
  • Collaborate withย perception, planning, controls, and platform teams to deliver integrated autonomous driving capabilities.ย 
  • Support theย developmentย andย integrationย of computer vision and machine learning-based components into localization and state estimation systems.ย 
  • Contribute to software architecture, code quality, and engineering best practices across the team.ย 

Whatย You'llย Need to Succeedย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, orย a relatedย technical field.ย 
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience using modern C++.ย 
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.ย 
  • Proficiencyย in Python for tooling, analysis,ย andย prototyping development.ย 
  • Experience developing software for robotics, autonomous systems, embedded systems, or other real-time applications.ย 
  • Experience developing localization, state estimation, or sensor fusion solutions using data from IMUs, GNSS receivers, cameras, lidar sensors, radar sensors, or related sensing technologies.ย 
  • Experience designing, implementing, andย validatingย production-quality software in Linux environments.ย 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.ย 

Bonus Pointsย 

  • Experience with computer vision, visual odometry, SLAM, mapping, or perception systems.ย 
  • Experience with estimation and optimization frameworks such as GTSAM, Ceres Solver, or similar tools.ย 
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such asย PyTorch.ย 
  • Experience developing machine learning-based computer vision solutions, including feature extraction,ย keypointย detection, or localization-related models.ย 
  • Knowledge of vehicle kinematicsย andย dynamics.ย 
  • Experience with Docker, Git,ย GitHub Actionsย and CI/CD workflows.ย 

  • Experience with ROS/ROS 2.ย 

  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and automotive development processes, including ISO 26262.ย
