Job description

THE POSITION Join the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources as a Lifeguard and help protect visitors at Frances Slocum State Park. This role will let you stay active while making a real difference in public safety. You will support a positive experience for families and guests enjoying the water.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position helps protect park visitors by monitoring the swimming area and responding quickly to emergencies.

As a Lifeguard, you will perform the following duties: Area Monitoring: Patrol and observe the swimming area to prevent accidents and assist visitors who need help Emergency Response: Provide first aid and CPR and report all incidents to the supervisor immediately Rule Enforcement: Explain and enforce swimming rules to ensure a safe and orderly environment Equipment Inspection: Check buoys, ropes, and first aid supplies to ensure all safety equipment is in good condition Area Maintenance: Clean and maintain the swimming area, pool surroundings, and lifeguard station Documentation Duties: Prepare written reports on water conditions, incidents, and daily activities Interested in learning more. The season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Full-time and part-time schedules available Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch Work schedule will vary, 37.5 hour work week, weekends, holidays and all shifts will be required. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements: All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment.

All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
