Job description

Our company is seeking a dedicated Slitter Operator/helper/setups to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the set-up and operation of the slitting line, ensuring the quality of our products, and maintaining a safe work environment. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality and safety, and we are looking for individuals who share these values.

Responsibilities
  • Setting up the line, including checking the master coils for weight, width, mill coil number, and mill heat number.
  • Verifying specifications and special instructions provided by the Sales Department.
  • Documenting observations or issues for Quality purposes.
  • Creating coil ID stickers for the finished mults.
  • Checking the slit mults before and after processing for actual gauge, widths, burrs, and set gamma.
  • Entering actual footage and location into the computer system.
  • Maintaining awareness of potential safety hazards and taking necessary precautions.
  • Assisting in the training of new employees.
  • Inspecting all tails of the master coil before they go through the syncrowind tension rolls.
  • Completing assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Having the authority to stop production if necessary to correct quality or safety problems.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be able to read a tape measure and know decimal to inch conversion.
  • Must have general computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to work well and communicate well with others.
  • Must use great attention to detail.
  • Must have experience in understanding steel defects.
  • Must have experience with heavy machinery.

Job Duties Include, but not limited to:

  • Operator acts as Team Leader for his shift’s operation.
  • As Team Leader making sure that you and your team does the following, but not limited to:
  • Keeping area clean and free from safety hazards.
  • Measurement tools are verified daily.
  • Scrap, trash, etc. is disposed of in proper containers.
  • Signing off work instructions is done and up to date.
  • Operational audits as assigned.
  • Reviewing work orders and ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Verifying all details (correct information, correct material, correct size, customer specifications).
  • Monitoring material while running a job.
  • Taking pictures and downloading into system during a j
