Job Description
Are you an experienced sleep professional with a passion for precision, quality, and mentoring others? Do you enjoy combining technical expertise with leadership while making a meaningful impact on patient care? If so, we'd love to welcome you to our Center for Sleep Health team!
As a Master Scorer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of accuracy and quality in sleep study interpretation. You'll perform expert scoring of overnight polysomnographic studies, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT), and other advanced sleep procedures while serving as a technical resource and mentor for the sleep laboratory team.
What You'll Do
- Perform expert scoring of overnight polysomnographic studies, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT), and other advanced sleep studies.
- Complete approximately one fully scored sleep study with a completed report every two hours during scoring shifts, excluding days dedicated to direct patient care or testing.
- Review and finalize technologists' preliminary scoring before forwarding studies to Board Certified Sleep Medicine physicians for final interpretation.
- Maintain monthly scoring accuracy of at least 80% compared to the Medical Director or the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) Inter-Scorer Reliability (ISR) gold standard.
- Oversee the quality of sleep testing performed throughout the Center for Sleep Health by monitoring study quality, providing feedback, and collaborating on Quality Assurance Data Worksheets in accordance with AASM practice parameters.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve testing quality, workflows, and patient service.
- Promote a safe testing environment by establishing and monitoring safety practices that align with AASM standards.
- Serve as a technical leader by coaching, mentoring, and supporting sleep technologists.
- Adjust work schedules and locations as needed to support operational needs across the Center for Sleep Health.
- Assist in developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, guest relations initiatives, and operational programs.
- Partner with the Center for Sleep Health Director to assess educational needs and develop orientation, training, and continuing education programs for sleep technologists, including monthly Inter-Scorer Reliability testing.
- Mentor and onboard new employees while providing hands-on training, competency assessments, and test preparation for trainees and non-credentialed staff.
- Support laboratory operations through inventory management, supply ordering, environment of care rounds, and other operational responsibilities.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of sleep equipment and computer systems while assisting with repair coordination and documentation.
- Conduct and document monthly infection control inspections, safety rounds, and "Clean Sweep" inspections to ensure equipment calibration, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain documentation related to equipment issues, repairs, inspections, and incident reports.
- Adjust workflow as needed to support quality assurance activities and changing departmental priorities.
- Champion quality improvement initiatives while promoting patient safety, staff engagement, and an inclusive, respectful work environment.
- Deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care that addresses each patient's physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Provide exceptional customer service by treating patients, families, physicians, visitors, and colleagues with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable regulations, accreditation standards, Corporate Compliance requirements, the Code of Conduct, and organizational policies while participating in required compliance education and activities.
What You'll Bring (Minimum Qualifications)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience scoring complex sleep laboratory studies.
- Experience with sleep data collection, CPAP titration, sleep study scoring, and sleep stage recognition.
- Current Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential and/or Registered Respiratory Therapist-Sleep Disorders Specialist (RRT-SDS) credential required and maintained as a condition of continued employment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification maintained as a condition of continued employment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including basic troubleshooting of equipment and software.
Why Join Our Team?
At the Center for Sleep Health, you'll do more than score sleep studies-you'll help set the standard for quality, mentor fellow technologists, and contribute to life-changing diagnoses and treatments for patients with sleep disorders. If you're looking for a role where your expertise is valued, your leadership makes a difference, and every day offers an opportunity to improve patient care, we'd love to hear from you.
