Personal Care Assistant
East Boston, MA
Full-time, benefits-eligible
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, including weekend/holiday rotations
*$2,000 Sign-On Bonus*

Personal Care Assistant position to assist Neighborhood PACE Day Health Center participants with personal care, restorative rehabilitation, meals, escort to medical appointments, group, and individual activities. Actively contributes to the operations of the Day Center by contributing ideas for the activities program and offering suggestions to improve daily operations. This is a float position where travel to other sites will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greets participants upon arrival and helps them to get settled for the day. Assists with serving coffee and snack on arrival and with noon meal service and cleanup. Provides supervision and encouragement when needed.
  • Attends daily morning report.
  • Reports participant concerns to appropriate staff members.
  • Prepares participants for departure in the afternoon by assisting with clothing and escorting to the vans.
  • Accompanies participants on the van to ensure safety during transport when necessary.
  • Assists participants with ADLs per assignment, as defined in care plan and as needed, for example when a participant requests assistance with toileting.
  • Accompanies participants to appointments as assigned.
  • Carries out simple treatments under the direction of nursing staff, including simple catheter care, skin checks during personal care.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Certification as Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with the elderly or other frail populations.
  • Care and respect for frail elders.
  • Creativity and confidence in leading group activities.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to other sites when needed required
