Position Overview

Active Skill Wellness is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic rehabilitation facility located in the vibrant city of Denver, Colorado. This is a full-time, onsite position where you will play a vital role in enhancing the functional abilities of children, particularly those at risk for developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' functional abilities through standardized assessments, clinical observations, and interviews with patients and families.
  • Develop, implement, and continually adapt individualized treatment and educational plans targeting each child's specific needs.
  • Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors and allied health practitioners, to ensure cohesive care and active participation in multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Provide guidance, training, and counseling to families, enabling them to support their child’s growth and progress.
  • Document all clinical findings meticulously, ensuring that all therapy interventions align with best practices and contribute to a family-centered plan.
  • Utilize critical thinking and creativity to design innovative interventions aimed at maximizing functional independence, especially in areas related to feeding and swallowing.
Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Active Skill Wellness, your primary focus will be on children facing developmental challenges, particularly those at risk for autism spectrum disorder. Your expertise will lead to tailored interventions that promote skill acquisition, functional independence, and the overall well-being of these young patients and their families.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA); graduates prior to 2004 may possess a Bachelor's degree.
  • Registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers as issued by the American Heart Association.
  • A valid driver’s license and appropriate auto insurance as needed.
  • Strong independent working skills, along with the ability to utilize critical thinking for patient-centered decision-making aligned with departmental and organizational objectives.
Preferred Experience
  • A Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience working in pediatric therapy settings.
  • Board certifications in advanced practice areas such as Sensory Integration, Hand Therapy Certification, or Pediatric Acute Care Certification are highly desirable.
