Job description

The Skid Steer Operator at the Whitewater Center will primarily operate a skid steer with the opportunity to operate additional pieces of heavy equipment based on experience and operational need. This includes but is not limited to; front-end loader, dozer, skid steer, mini-excavator, lull, walk-behinds, tractors, etc. Projects vary from clearing, scraping, grading, spreading, and compacting, while managing different types of materials in the process. This position can be part-time or full-time benefits eligible, on-site and reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager. .

Responsibilities

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe and productive manner
  • Ability to identify the proper piece of equipment and material for the job
  • Perform equipment preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting
  • Operate equipment to proficiently grade for slopes, contours, and finish grade for paving projects
  • Maintain clean equipment and ensure it is secure when not in use
  • Detailed knowledge of materials and methods used for a variety of surfaces and projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous heavy equipment operating experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other Whitewater events as needed
  • Knowledge of proper rigging and towing procedures preferred

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space.
  • Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and move at least 50+ pounds.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop frequently.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time under varying weather conditions.
  • All positions at Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations.

The Facilities Department is responsible for facility maintenance, water quality, construction, landscaping, and trail development. The department oversees inspections, repairs, maintenance, and safety of the Whitewater Centerโ€™s activities and infrastructure.
