What is ski resort photography?

Ski resort photography is a specialized type of photography focused on capturing images of guests, activities, events, and scenic landscapes at ski resorts. Photographers in this field often take action shots of skiers and snowboarders on the slopes, as well as candid and posed photos at various resort locations. Their work is used for marketing, souvenirs, and promotional materials, helping resorts showcase their amenities and experiences. Ski resort photographers may work seasonally and must be comfortable working in cold, outdoor environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a ski resort photographer?

To thrive as a Ski Resort Photographer, you need strong photography skills, familiarity with action and outdoor shooting, and often a background in photography or visual arts. Proficiency with digital cameras, editing software like Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop, and sometimes experience with drones or GoPro cameras is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability to changing weather conditions, and the ability to make guests feel comfortable in front of the camera help set you apart. These skills are crucial for capturing high-quality, memorable images in dynamic environments while ensuring a positive guest experience.

What are the main challenges faced by photographers working at a ski resort, and how can they be overcome?

Photographers at ski resorts often deal with rapidly changing weather conditions, bright glare from snow, and fast-moving subjects. Adapting to these challenges requires proficiency in adjusting camera settings on the fly, using protective gear for equipment, and strong communication skills to quickly direct guests for posed shots. Building rapport with resort staff and understanding the flow of guest activities can also help photographers maximize photo opportunities while ensuring safety and satisfaction for both guests and colleagues.

MARKETING MANAGER BASIC FUNCTION The Ragged Mountain Resort LLC Marketing Manager is a key member of the Ragged Mountain Leadership team reporting directly to the General Manager. The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing the resort's marketing strategy across digital, print, and on-mountain channels. This role blends strategic planning with hands‑on execution — from campaign development and social media management to partnership outreach and event promotion — to drive visitation, revenue, and brand loyalty throughout both the winter and summer seasons. As part of the Resort Leadership team, the Marketing Manager is a highly visible member of the Resort Leadership team attending industry trade shows and local / regional events. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Strategy & Campaign Management
  • Develop and execute annual marketing plans aligned with revenue goals for lift tickets, season passes, lodging, dining, and summer operations
  • Plan and manage seasonal advertising campaigns (paid social, search, display, email, print, and local broadcast)
  • Set and manage the marketing department budget; track ROI across channels
Digital & Social Media
  • Own the resort's website content, SEO, and conversion optimization
  • Manage social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube), including content calendars, community engagement, and influencer/ambassador partnerships
  • Oversee email marketing programs (newsletters, promotions, automated guest journeys)
Brand & Content
  • Maintain brand consistency across all guest touchpoints — signage, uniforms, print collateral, digital ads
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots to capture on-mountain conditions, events, and lifestyle content
  • Write and edit copy for web, email, press releases, and advertising
  • Manage daily snow reporting during winter season across website, mobile app and partner sites
PR & Community Relations
  • Develop and execute a sustainable earned media strategy
  • Serve as a media contact for local and regional press; pitch stories and manage press trips
  • Build relationships with local businesses, tourism boards (e.g., Ski New Hampshire, NH Division of Travel and Tourism, Local Chambers of Commerce), and regional partners
  • Represent the resort at community events, trade shows, and consumer ski/travel expos
Events & Promotions
  • Plan and promote on-mountain events (races, festivals, concerts, holiday programming) in collaboration with the sales team
  • Coordinate group sales and corporate partnership promotions with sales team
  • Manage season pass launch campaigns and early‑bird promotions
  • Manage mult-day ticket product + promotion
Analytics & Reporting
  • Track key metrics (website traffic, conversion rates, pass sales, social engagement, email performance)
  • Report on campaign performance to leadership and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Conduct competitor and market research across the Northeast ski industry
QUALIFICATIONS Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of marketing experience, ideally in hospitality, tourism, ski/outdoor recreation, or a related consumer industry
  • Proven experience managing social media, email marketing, and digital ad platforms (Meta Ads, Google Ads)
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills
  • Proficiency with marketing/analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mailchimp/Klaviyo, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to juggle multiple campaigns at once
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred
  • Experience marketing a seasonal or weather-dependent business
  • Familiarity with the ski/snowboard industry and New England travel + hospitality market
  • Experience with CRM and point-of-sale/ticketing systems
  • Photography/videography skills
  • Passion for skiing, riding, or mountain sports

Responsibilities, duties and the requirements for this position may change at any time, with or without a change in title, benefits or salary.
