Site Reliability Engineer - Northern Trust, Goals Driven Wealth Management
We are searching for a candidate who has extensive experience in Site Reliability Engineering principles and culture, and who enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences for every interaction. A person who can establish SRE best practices and supports App teams in maturing SRE principles and culture.
The Goals Driven Wealth Management platform is a showcase product for Northern Trust's Wealth Management business and we must demonstrate our ability to deliver and support innovative technology solutions. We count on our site reliability engineers to run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
Major Duties:
1. Develop and implement SRE best practices across the entire technology stack.
2. Collaborate with both application and infrastructure teams to establish reliability goals.
3. Design and maintain observability solutions for comprehensive monitoring.
4. Lead incident response and post-incident reviews, driving continuous improvement.
5. Manage Disaster Recovery exercises
6. Access review/Audit activity
7. Participate in capacity planning and performance optimization efforts. Work with senior staff and management on service delivery improvements
Knowledge/Skills
• Strong advocate for SRE principles and culture
• Broad understanding of application and infrastructure components
• Understanding of enterprise architecture patterns and best practices
• Proficiency in incident response and post-mortem analysis
• Experience in Terraform, Java, Springboot, Spring Framework, SQL/NoSQL databases
• Knowledge of monitoring tools
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
• Highly flexible and adaptable to change
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• A positive goal orientated attitude with a focus on service delivery
• Strong interest in working with business teams on issue resolution
Experience Required
A College or University degree in Computer Science and/or relevant 8-10 years proven work experience
