Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Concrete & Asphalt Superintendent to lead and scale our growing restoration and small-project division. This role is responsible for daily field execution, crew performance, and job profitability across multiple active sites.

This is not a sit-in-the-office role — this is a production-driven leader who can run crews, solve problems in real time, and keep jobs moving fast and profitable.

Core Responsibilities

Field Operations

  • Oversee multiple crews daily (concrete, asphalt, patching, restoration)
  • Coordinate mobilization/remobilization across several jobs per day
  • Ensure all work meets specs, compaction, and finish quality standards
  • Manage job sequencing, scheduling, and site logistics

Production & Profitability

  • Hit daily production targets (SF placed, tons installed, patches completed)
  • Track labor hours vs. budget
  • Identify and correct inefficiencies immediately
  • Drive margin performance (target 15–25%+ gross)

Crew Leadership

  • Manage foremen and field crews (hire, train, discipline)
  • Enforce accountability and productivity standards
  • Maintain strong team culture and safety mindset

Client & GC Coordination

  • Communicate with GCs, inspectors, and project managers
  • Handle field issues, inspections, and punch lists
  • Represent company professionally on-site

Compliance & Safety

  • Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies
  • Ensure proper compaction, testing coordination, and documentation
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness and organization

Requirements

Experience

  • 7+ years in concrete and/or asphalt construction
  • 3+ years as a Superintendent or Senior Foreman
  • Strong background in:
  • Concrete placement & finishing
  • Asphalt paving & patching
  • Subgrade prep & compaction
  • Small-job, high-volume operations

Skillset

  • Ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of production rates and job costing
  • Proven ability to run crews efficiently
  • Comfortable with fast-paced, high-turnover work environments

Preferred

  • Experience with public works (WSSC, MDOT, DC Water)
  • Knowledge of compaction testing & inspection processes
  • Experience scaling or building a new division
