Job description

The OpportunityA Business Development Manager in environmental and geotechnical drilling will drive company growth by securing commercial contracts for subsurface soil sampling, rock coring, and site characterization services. This role partners closely with operations to develop new client relationships, manage existing accounts, and align opportunities with field capabilities. The primary focus will be expanding business across the company’s current footprint, including the Rocky Mountain states and the Pacific Northwest. Target clients include environmental and geotechnical engineering firms, general contractors, and energy developers. The position serves as a bridge between client needs and field operations, helping expand market share in infrastructure, heavy construction, and related development sectors.Key ResponsibilitiesClient acquisition and relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with civil engineers, developers, public-sector project managers, and other key decision-makers.Market strategy: Identify regional growth opportunities across transportation, energy, municipal infrastructure, and heavy construction markets.Operational coordination: Align business development targets with operational capacity, drill-rig availability, and crew scheduling.Marketing and industry presence: Plan and attend conferences, seminars, client meetings, and other industry events to promote company capabilities.Travel: Travel up to 75% of the time to support client development and regional market growth.Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related technical field.Experience: Five or more years of experience in technical sales, project management, or business development within environmental or geotechnical engineering.Technical knowledge: Working understanding of soil mechanics, drilling methods such as hollow-stem auger, mud rotary, core drilling, and sonic drilling, as well as construction materials testing.You should be proficient in:Customer ServiceProduction OptimizationConstruction Site InstallationTerritory SalesBusiness-to-Business (B2B)Contract Negotiation ExperienceRegulatory / Legal ContractsAccount ManagementBusiness DevelopmentConstructionConstruction Materials TestingCore DrillingDewateringEnvironmental DrillingGeotechnical DrillingHeavy EquipmentHollow Stem AugerMud RotarySoil MechanicsSonic DrillingWater Well DrillingWell DecommissioningMachines & technologies you'll use:Hollow Stem AugerMud RotarySonic Drills #J-18808-Ljbffr
