Single Particle Tracking information

Where can a particle physicist work?

A particle physicist can work in research laboratories, universities, government agencies, and industry sectors that focus on advanced scientific research and technology development. They often utilize skills in data analysis, experimental design, and specialized tools like particle accelerators and detectors. Employment may require advanced degrees and familiarity with scientific software and instrumentation.

What is the difference between Single Particle Tracking vs Microscopy Technician?

AspectSingle Particle TrackingMicroscopy Technician
Required CredentialsAdvanced degrees in physics, biology, or related fields; specialized training in particle trackingAssociate's or bachelor's in biology, chemistry, or related fields; technical training in microscopy
Work EnvironmentResearch labs, universities, biotech companies focusing on particle dynamicsLaboratories, research institutions, hospitals performing microscopy procedures
Industry UsageUsed in biophysics, nanotechnology, cellular biology researchUsed in medical diagnostics, materials science, biological research

Single Particle Tracking involves analyzing the movement of individual particles to study their behavior, often requiring advanced data analysis skills. Microscopy Technicians operate and maintain microscopes, preparing samples for imaging. While both roles work in research environments, Single Particle Tracking is more specialized in data analysis, whereas Microscopy Technicians focus on sample preparation and equipment management.

What is single particle tracking?

Single particle tracking is a technique used in research and microscopy to monitor the movement of individual particles over time. It involves capturing high-resolution images and analyzing the trajectories to study dynamic processes at the molecular or cellular level, often requiring specialized software and imaging tools.

What is the single particle tracking protocol?

Single particle tracking (SPT) protocol involves labeling individual particles with fluorescent markers, capturing their movement using high-resolution microscopy, and analyzing the trajectories with specialized software. The process requires careful sample preparation, precise imaging conditions, and data analysis skills to determine particle dynamics and interactions.

What jobs can you get with a particle physics degree?

A particle physics degree can lead to careers in research, data analysis, and instrumentation development in academia, government laboratories, or private industry. Common roles include research scientist, data analyst, accelerator operator, or technical consultant, often requiring strong analytical skills, programming knowledge, and familiarity with experimental tools. These positions typically involve working in laboratory or research environments and may require advanced degrees or specialized certifications.

Who is Meissner?
The goal at Meissner is to be more than simply good; it is to be extraordinary. Extraordinary performance comes from extraordinary people.
Meissner as a group is passionate about helping our clients manufacture lifesaving and life enhancing drugs, therapies, and vaccines. We develop, manufacture, supply and service advanced microfiltration products and single-use systems worldwide.
We know that when you are passionate about what you do, it's more than just a job.
Meissner is focused on the development of the whole individual, and we have programs and tools in place to help us stay at our best mentally and physically. In alignment with our commitment to support the growth and development of the whole individual, Meissner has inaugurated a Learning and Development department to solely focus on cultivating our team. When you grow, we grow.
How you will make an impact:
The Assembler I is responsible for assembling Single-Use biopharmaceutical components and finished products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and company quality standards. This basic-level role requires the learning and understanding of basic assembly processes, with the ability to work independently on routine tasks and collaborating effectively within a team. Assemblies are manufactured following configuration based on Bill of Materials (BOM) and Specification Prints. This role ensures operational integrity through strict process adherence and the maintenance of a clean, compliant, and safe cleanroom environment.
  • Manufacture basic assemblies and visually inspect according to SOPS and work instructions.
  • Read and understand SOPs to properly perform necessary manufacturing operations.
  • Learn fundamental assembly and cleanroom skills under direct guidance.
  • Maintain adequate production pace to meet schedule while ensuring accuracy.
  • Visually inspect and package all finished products for adherence to specification print.
  • Recognize and report basic defects or issues with components or assemblies.
  • Adjust machine settings according to SOPs and clean equipment as needed.
  • Observe automated machinery and notify senior operator, production lead or supervisor of any irregularities.
  • Initiate welding cycle of various pieces of machinery involved in production.
  • Interface with computers/software which facilitates all phases of production activity including tracking of production order status, electronic batch record generation, inventory lot control, etc.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, SOPs (including cleanroom and gowning requirements), and quality standards in every task, and promptly report any deviations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace; regularly or monthly performing sweeping, mopping, and surface sanitization in compliance with cleanroom standards.
  • Follow directions and detailed instructions from senior operators or leads with precision.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.

This is an on-site role based out of our headquarters in Camarillo, CA.
The skills and experience you'll need:

  • Production skills are trained by Meissner Personnel. No other training is required.
  • A personal commitment to produce the highest quality product possible is essential.
  • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions).
  • Basic computer skills are essential with ability to quickly learn customized software applications (i.e., MVP Web).
  • Strong attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work in a controlled cleanroom environment.
  • May involve working overtime and weekends, depending on production needs.

Don't meet every single requirement? Apply anyway.
What we can offer you:
  • Full Medical, Dental and Vision coverage with HSA Employer Contributions for eligible plans
  • Additional Perks- HQ Onsite Full Gym, Ultramodern Coffee Bars, Free EV Charging Stations, Employee Discounts
  • 401k, Profit Sharing, 401k Advisory Services
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, Anniversary Holiday

Work Environment
Single-Use Production is performed in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Powder free gloves, face masks, hairnets, gowns and shoe covers must be worn. Shorts, loose or baggy clothing is not permitted. Makeup, hair styling products, soiled, fuzzy or frayed clothing must not be worn into the cleanroom. Because smokers continue to shed thousands of smoke particles even hours after smoking a cigarette and these particles will damage our products, only non-smokers are permitted to enter or work in the cleanroom.
