THIS POSITION IS FOR ONE YEAR ONLY AND WILL END JUNE 4, 2027.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school graduation or its equivalent

WORK DAYS: 192 days (Student days only) - 192 Day Work Year Calendar
Monday through Friday, 8 hours/day, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Schedule: Dana (1 day/week), Grover Heights (2 days/week), Harloe (2 days/week)
The position will begin August 13, 2026.
SALARY: Ranges 16 & 18, salary placement from $19.66 through $26.40 hourly + 5% bilingual stipend
Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience.

TITLE: STUDENT SUPPORT ADVOCATE
SALARY RANGE: 16 None or a limited number of units OR completion of 15 semester units of a varied academic program OR completion of 30 semester units of a varied academic program, 15 of which must be education courses or related subjects.
18 An AA Degree (60 semester units or more, 30 of which must be education courses or related subjects) or 60 units of education courses.
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, to serve as advocate for families; identify and provide resources for children and their families.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
1. High school graduation or its equivalent.
2. Ability to speak effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions; work independently on own initiative; establish and maintain cooperative relationships; ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
3. Must pass district NCLB instructional assistant and bilingual competency tests.
4. Possess valid California driver license.
Desirable:
1. Experience working with families of school age children.
2. Knowledge of community resources and services available to families in the district.
3. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Facilitate family access to school and community resources.
2. Make family referrals to multi-disciplinary teams as appropriate.
3. Assist families in their participation in multi-disciplinary planning.
4. Participate in program training, conferences, and evaluations.
5. Make student referrals to onsite student providers.
6. Coordinate services with Advocacy Services Coordinator.
7. Perform other related duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to see and read fine print and work with small objects with or without vision aids.
4. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels with or without aids.
5. Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
6. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
7. Ability to reach in all directions.
8. Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate computers.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to concentrate on a single task for up to two (2) hours at a time.
2. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a variety of technology, instructions, and task methods.
3. Ability to meet deadlines in terms of work assignment schedules.
SOCIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Interact daily in person with other members of the site and school staff and possess comfortable interpersonal skills and cooperative attitudes.
2. Because of the time urgent nature of duties and because work product of position is interdependent with that of other staff, consistent attendance is required.
3. Convey an understanding, patient attitude toward other students, parents, staff and members of community.
4. Maintain the privacy of confidential information including pupil data, staff data, or any other data.
