Job description

Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
New York University Tandon School of Engineering
The Truong Lab for "Programmable Regenerative Immunity" (truonglab.com) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate to lead experimental & intellectual efforts in Synthetic Immuno-Engineering and Regenerative Immunology. This is an opportunity to define the next generation of human cell engineering and cell-based therapeutics.
New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world. The Truong lab, located in midtown Manhattan, is part of the rapidly growing Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Health Engineering initiative.
The lab integrates synthetic biology, genome engineering, and stem cell differentiation to design programmable, interoperable human cells. We have developed a genome engineering platform (REWRITE) that enables scarless, large-scale rewriting (10-100+ kb) of native loci in human iPSCs. These systems are being used to construct synthetic immune consortia from the ground up.
Why Join Us?
(1) The lab is interdisciplinary, high-momentum, and deeply collaborative, with strong translational & entrepreneurial ambitions. (2) Access state-of-the-art infrastructure for genome engineering, stem cell culture, and single-cell profiling. (3) Obtain opportunities for fellowship support, project independence, and technology translation (including spinout support). (4) Collaborate across NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Grossman School of Medicine, and Arts & Sciences.
The primary project for this position is SynThyTune, our synthetic thymus platform for modeling central tolerance and T-cell education. This work supports applications in autoimmunity, transplantation, and cancer immunotherapy. A secondary opportunity is available for candidates with strong interest and expertise in macrophage biology and regenerative neuroimmunology, contributing to our REPHRESH program in Alzheimer's disease.
Responsibilities
Candidate will be responsible for: (1) Designing and assembling synthetic DNA 10-100 kb in size. (2) Genetic engineering and manipulation of human iPSCs. (3) Direct reprogramming & differentiation of human iPSCs into thymic epithelial cells, T-cell precursor, and myeloid lineages. (4) in vitro modeling of TCR selection and immune education.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000-$70,000 depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications
Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Cell & Molecular Biology, Immunology or a related field.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following: (1) Genome Engineering & Synthetic Biology, (2) Stem Cells & Differentiation, (3) Immunology or Neuroscience, (4) Transcriptomics or Systems Biology, as exemplified by a strong publication record and scientific communication skills.
We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
Application Instructions
Applicants should submit, as one pdf, the following information:
  • an up-to-date CV that includes a complete list of publications,
  • a research statement that describes their interest and goals and how their research relates to this position,
  • names and contact information for 2-3 references.

All application materials should be submitted electronically via Interfolio.
Review of applications will begin as soon as possible and will continue until the position is filled. Expected start date is open to discussion.question
