Summary
Postdoctoral Fellow - Bone Metastatic Cancer Biology A fully funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Conor C. Lynch within the Department of Tumor Microenvironment & Metastasis at Moffitt Cancer Center. The Lynch laboratory studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive tumor progression and metastasis within the bone microenvironment, with a particular focus on bone metastatic prostate cancer, multiple myeloma, and osteosarcoma. Research in the laboratory integrates tumor biology, bone biology, and immunology to understand how cancer cells interact with the bone niche and how these interactions promote tumor growth, therapy resistance, and disease progression. The laboratory has a strong translational focus, including the development and testing of novel small molecule inhibitors and therapeutic strategies targeting the tumor-bone microenvironment. Position Highlights Projects include investigating novel therapeutic strategies and small molecule inhibitors targeting tumor progression in bone metastatic prostate cancer, multiple myeloma, and osteosarcoma. Research focuses on mechanistic studies of tumor-bone and tumor-immune microenvironment interactions, including how these interactions regulate metastasis, tumor dormancy, and therapeutic resistance. Opportunities exist to apply cutting-edge molecular and genomic approaches, including spatial transcriptomics, single-cell RNA sequencing, and multi-omic analyses, to study tumor-bone interactions. Moffitt integrates outstanding clinical care with cutting-edge basic and translational research, providing unique opportunities to collaborate with physician-scientists and access patient-derived samples. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be a motivated scientist interested in the tumor bone microenvironment and metastasis. Highly motivated and independent Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment Willingness to write fellowship applications and manuscripts Experience with cell culture, molecular biology, protein/DNA techniques, supported by peer-reviewed publications Experience with in vivo models and histology is preferred Experience or familiarity with spatial transcriptomics, single-cell RNA sequencing, and genomic data analysis is highly desirable Experience with coding languages (e.g., R, Python) or bioinformatics approaches is a plus but not required Responsibilities Develop and execute independent research projects related to tumor-bone microenvironment interactions Design and perform molecular, cellular, and in vivo experiments Analyze and interpret experimental data Assist with manuscript and grant preparation Train and mentor students or junior laboratory personnel Maintain accurate and detailed research records Present research findings at lab meetings and national/international conferences Credentials and Qualifications PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in cancer biology, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or a related field At least one first-author peer-reviewed publication Experience in cancer biology, bone biology, metastasis, or tumor microenvironment research is strongly preferred How to Apply Interested applicants should submit a single PDF file including: • Cover letter describing research interests and career goals• Curriculum vitae including publication list• Contact information for three references Moffitt Postdocs are provided with Medical Insurance (Moffitt covers premium for team members) effective upon start date and eligible for Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off, Retirement, Parental Leave and more.
