Job description

Position Summary

United Aviate Graduates

Perform the duties of a certificated flight instructor as authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline. Ensure all students understand and practice all aspects of United Aviate Academy's Aviation Safety Program. Provides flight, ground, and simulator training for student pilots in accordance with 14 CFR Parts 141 and 61. FAA regulations and publications, and United Aviate Academy's policies and procedures. Maintains student training records, ensures FAA ACS course standards, and training requirements are met by each student for pilot training. Initiate stage check and End-of-Course requests for assigned students. Responsible for the timely course completion of all flight students assigned including completion of required paperwork. Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft and inform United Aviate Academy maintenance personnel of any inoperative and or questionable items.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain student training records in accordance with 14 CFR Part 141 and United Aviate Academy policies.

  • Maintain training standard as set forth by FAA regulations United Aviate policies.

  • Ensure that course standards, training requirements and objectives are met by all assigned students as required by the Training Course Outline.

  • Report on student progress and accurately maintains and updates all appropriate records.

  • Recommend and develops curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate.

  • Maintain safe, caring, dependable and efficient culture with students, fellow instructors, and staff.

  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

  • Must be able to work full-time, nights, weekends, and holiday schedules.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • United Aviate Pathway participation preferred but not required.

  • 1+ years' experience as a flight instructor.

  • 2+ years' experience in a leadership role.

  • Extensive understanding of 14 CFR, FSIMS 8900, and other regulations pertaining to aviation

Education

  • Certification Requirements: FAA CFI, CFII, MEI (if not in United Aviate Pathway)

  • Active Medical Class 1

  • Bachelor's degree Preferred (i.e., Aviation, or Business Administration)

  • Gold Seal CFI, Master CFI or equivalent certifications preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and aviation scheduling systems.

  • Courage to make key decisions and advise leadership with professionalism & poise.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous situations.

  • Strong ability to use data & analytics; determine key decisions and identify actions for best results.

  • Build strong partnerships across the business areas, operations, standards, safety, student services, and United Airlines.
