Department Summary: The Mechanical and Reliability Department provides innovative solutions for electronic prototypes designed for advanced sensing, communication, and navigation systems. Areas of expertise include ground, airborne and shipboard systems. Engineers from the group are critical to all aspects of prototype or system development beginning with conceptual design, continuing through detail design, system integration and test, fabrication, and environmental testing. We provide technical guidance through rigorous analytical, physical, and computational methods with data driven products to enhance decision making and risk management. Roles & Responsibilities: MITRE's Mechanical and Reliability Department is seeking a Senior Aeromechanical Engineer to perform mechanical and environmental analyses for airborne systems. The successful candidate will: * Work with cross-functional technical teams comprised of both in-house and sponsor personnel in the development and evaluation of command and control systems.
* Perform structural, aero/fluid dynamics, vibration and thermal analyses at the component, individual item, and system level.
* Be responsible for deliverables or parts of deliverables to sponsors. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years of related experience
* Experience using computer aided design (CAD) software and generating and interpreting mechanical drawings
* Experience conducting engineering analyses in the areas of structures, aero/fluid dynamics, vibration and thermodynamics, including the application of Finite Element Analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques
* Ability to scope and perform aeromechanical engineering tasks autonomously
* Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance
* This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site * Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance. Preferred Qualifications: * M.S. and/or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
* Experience working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and demonstrated effectiveness of written and verbal communication skills
* Experience with SolidWorks CAD tools
* Experience with ANSYS (e.g. Workbench, APDL, Mechanical, LS-Dyna, CFX, Fluent, Icepak)
* Experience with design and integration of systems for airborne platforms. * High-level computational skills in large scale simulations, data analysis, and programming
* Demonstrated ability to lead independent research tasks. Experience proposing and conducting technical research projects. This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
