Job purpose

This role will be with BorgWarner's advanced engineering group within PowerDrive Systems, where we investigate, evaluate, innovate, develop and test cutting-edge technology suited for our next generation products. The intern will be provided with opportunities that will help gain understanding of electric drive modules and test experience. It will also be an excellent opportunity to understand advanced engineering processes and workflow.

Key responsibilities

  • Support new technology evaluation which primarily involves hands on testing, data analysis, finite element analysis.
  • Support benchmarking and design review of electric drive units.
  • Assist engineers with test reports and analysis of simulation studies.

What we're looking for

  • Current full-time enrollment in an accredited college, university, vocational/trade school.
  • Ability to report onsite at least three days to our Auburn Hills Campus
  • Pursuing bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical field with a strong interest / focus on electrification.
  • Familiarity and interest in mechanical gearbox, fluid analysis and testing.
  • Basic understanding of finite element analysis simulation using Amesin or Ansys.
  • Experience and/or interest in electrical drive units.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools like Amesim, Ansys and MATLAB.
