Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a versatile, detail-oriented Finish Carpenter / Skilled Handyman who combines true craftsmanship with broad general repair ability. The ideal candidate takes pride in high-precision finish and trim work while also being capable of handling the full range of day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks. This is a hands-on role for someone who can move fluidly between a meticulous crown-molding installation in the morning and a plumbing or drywall repair in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities

Finish & Detail Work

  • Measure, cut, and install interior and exterior trim, including crown molding, baseboards, casing, wainscoting, and chair rail
  • Hang and adjust interior doors; install hardware, locksets, and cabinetry
  • Build, install, and repair custom millwork, shelving, and built-ins
  • Perform precise scribing, mitering, and coping for tight, professional joints
  • Patch, sand, and prep surfaces for paint or stain; apply finishes as needed

General Handyman & Maintenance

  • Complete drywall repair, patching, and texture matching
  • Handle minor plumbing repairs (faucets, fixtures, supply lines, leaks)
  • Handle minor electrical tasks where permitted (fixtures, switches, outlets)
  • Perform painting, caulking, and surface touch-ups
  • Repair or replace flooring, tile, and fixtures
  • Address general repairs to walls, ceilings, hardware, and fixtures
  • Diagnose problems and recommend appropriate repair or replacement

General Duties

  • Read and interpret basic plans, drawings, and measurements
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Manage tools, materials, and supplies; track and reorder as needed
  • Communicate clearly with clients or supervisors on scope, timing, and cost
  • Complete work to code and to a high standard of finish quality

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in finish carpentry and trim work (portfolio or references preferred)
  • Broad general handyman/maintenance skill set across multiple trades
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools (miter saw, table saw, nail guns, routers, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to clean, precise results
  • Ability to measure accurately and work to fine tolerances
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders/scaffolding

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of combined carpentry and general repair experience
