Job description

The Fraud Specialist Surveillance pro-actively monitors, audits and investigates all areas of Food & Beverage, Retail, Clubs, Special Events and Concert Venues for theft and loss that affects the profitability of Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas and its partners. This position will assist in building cases for the Manager Surveillance to present to Departmental Management and Human Resources. This position also requires ensuring the Point-of-Sale reports are occurring daily, weekly and monthly.
Core Responsibilities - Includes but not limited to:
  • At the direction of the Surveillance Manager, will initiate new investigations while keeping the Manager informed.
  • Reviews ongoing fraud investigation cases and documents for accuracy.
  • Proactively collaborates with other Fraud Team Members assigned to monitor all areas of the property to identify potential exposure through loss, fraud and/or theft.
  • Conducts Point of Sale audits and investigations by uncovering performance issues and theft through the assignment of audits, data mining and integrity checks. Ensures the review of Point-of-Sale reports are occurring daily, weekly and monthly.
  • Supports the Surveillance Manager in building cases for eventual prosecution and may act as a liaison to outside law enforcement (GCB and Metro). May act as a contact for the District Attorney or Attorney General's office.
  • Assists in documenting and updating records to show how integrity check funds are allocated for investigations.
  • Coordinates with the Surveillance Manager when a matter is discovered which needs further investigation or attention as appropriate.
  • Always monitors all areas of the property, identifying potential exposure to loss, fraud and/or theft and reporting them to the appropriate individual or entity for proper resolution.
  • Works with the Surveillance Technicians to ensure proper coverage of Point-of-Sale terminals and other areas at risk of fraud or theft.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Loss prevention and casino gaming experience preferred.
  • Ability to build cases and liaison with outside law enforcement, when necessary.
  • Ability to write effective, executive ready reports.
  • Working knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems, fraud, internal-external theft, and inventory control.
  • Ability to analyze financial and Food & Beverage reports and to analyze non-traditional data from Special Events, Concerts, Retail, and Club operations.
  • Proficiency in E-Connect is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, LMS, Micros Simphony or equivalent programs.
  • Strong internet based investigative skills including researching across social media platforms.
  • Ability to view Surveillance footage and find conclusive supporting video facts.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English. Must communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to interpret data from graphs.
  • Full knowledge and ability to comply with company and department rules, policies and procedures.
