Social Content Director

Collier Simon

Los Angeles, CA • On-site

Contractor

Posted 10 days ago

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and direct recurring social content shoots for a restaurant/culinary client, ensuring footage is authentic, appetizing, and social-native.

  • Guide talent, food styling, and shot selection in real-time to produce high-quality raw footage suitable for social media platforms.

  • Organize and hand off raw footage to the editing team, and collaborate with internal teams on concepts, shot lists, and shoot goals.

Job description

We're looking for a hands-on, social-native Social Content Director to lead recurring social shoots for a fast food restaurant chain. This isn't a traditional producer role, it's built for someone who thrives on set, knows how to make food look irresistible on camera, and can pull strong performances out of talent while capturing raw, creator-style content that feels native to social.

You'll be the person on set making sure every shoot produces footage that's authentic, appetizing, and ready to perform. Final editing is handled by another team member, so your focus is entirely on production and capture — not post.

What You Bring
  • Experience directing or producing social-first video content, ideally with food, culinary, or lifestyle brands
  • A sharp eye for what makes food and drink look good on camera — lighting, styling, angles, movement
  • Comfort directing talent (professional and non-professional) and coaching stronger, more natural performances in real time
  • Strong instincts for what makes content feel native to social rather than produced or overly polished
  • Hands-on production experience: you can manage a small shoot from setup through wrap without a large crew
  • Familiarity with creator-style and UGC content conventions across platforms like Instagram and TikTok
  • Comfort working independently on a fast, recurring shoot cadence
  • Based in Los Angeles and available for regular in-person shoots throughout the area
  • Strong communication and organizational skills — you keep shoots on schedule and footage organized for handoff
What You'll Do
  • Lead 3–5 recurring social content shoots per month for a restaurant/culinary client
  • Direct talent on set, shaping performance and identifying the strongest moments in the moment
  • Guide food and product styling and presentation to ensure everything looks its best on camera
  • Capture raw, creator-style footage designed to feel authentic and native to social
  • Make real-time creative calls on framing, pacing, and shot selection during the shoot
  • Organize and hand off raw footage cleanly to the editing team for post-production
  • Partner with the internal team to align on concepts, shot lists, and goals ahead of each shoot
  • Bring a proactive, flexible approach to a fast-moving account with frequent turnaround
What Success Looks Like
  • Talent feels directed and comfortable, even when they're not professional performers
  • Food and drink consistently look their best on camera, shoot after shoot
  • Raw footage is strong enough that editing is straightforward, with minimal usable-content gaps
  • You adapt quickly to a recurring, high-frequency shoot schedule without sacrificing quality
  • Footage is well-organized and easy for the editing team to pick up
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience producing and/or directing social video content, food/culinary experience strongly preferred
  • Based in Los Angeles, with reliable availability for in-person shoots
  • Comfortable working as a freelancer on a recurring monthly cadence (approximately 40–50 hours/month across 3–5 shoots)
  • Portfolio or reel showcasing relevant social/food content work

To Apply To be considered for this position, please submit your reel/portfolio and resume with your application here.

This is a freelance/contract position; rate and scope will be discussed during the interview process.
