Silo information

What is a silo?

A Silo job refers to a position where tasks and responsibilities are confined within a specific department or function, with minimal interaction with other teams. This can lead to efficiency within specialized areas but may also create communication barriers between departments. Organizations often work to reduce siloed working environments to improve collaboration and innovation.

What does a silo operator do?

Silo operators are workers responsible for managing and maintaining silos, which are large storage structures used to hold bulk materials like grain, cement, or other agricultural and industrial products. Their duties include monitoring the storage conditions, operating equipment to load and unload materials, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and performing regular inspections and maintenance on the silo. Silo operators play a key role in preventing spoilage, contamination, and equipment failure, making their work essential in industries such as agriculture and manufacturing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a silo operator?

To thrive as a Silo Operator, you need a solid understanding of material handling, equipment operation, and basic mechanical knowledge, usually supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with automation controls, monitoring systems, and safety protocols are essential, and some roles may require forklift certification. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help operators manage storage processes efficiently and safely. These skills ensure the safe, timely, and accurate handling of bulk materials, preventing contamination, equipment issues, and workplace accidents.

What are the typical challenges faced by silo operators in maintaining product quality and safety standards?

Silo Operators often encounter challenges such as monitoring inventory levels, preventing product contamination, and ensuring the efficient operation of automated silo systems. They must regularly inspect equipment for wear or malfunction, adhere to strict safety protocols when handling bulk materials, and coordinate with maintenance teams to address any issues promptly. Effective communication with quality control and logistics teams is also crucial to minimize downtime and maintain consistent product standards.

Job description

Role: UX Designer

Location: Greenwood Village, CO

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 12 Months

Description:

  • Client is currently seeking a strategic, user-experience-minded Product Designer to join one of our largest and most forward-thinking clients.
  • This role isn't about pixel-pushing or simply making things look good-we're looking for someone who can solve business problems through thoughtful experience design, bring structure to complexity, and collaborate closely across product and engineering teams.
  • You'll be working inside a mature design system, so visual polish is less important than critical thinking, storytelling, and applying smart UX strategy.
  • This is a high-impact role where your work will directly affect millions of users across digital products, services, and platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to define user flows, wireframes, and journey maps that align with both user needs and business goals
  • Apply and evolve existing design systems and patterns-this role is not about reinventing the wheel, but making sure the right wheels are used in the right way
  • Use Figma to create and iterate on designs, from low-fidelity flows to high-fidelity prototypes
  • Help connect the dots between product strategy and UX execution-you're not just a designer, you're a thought partner
  • Bring a data-informed approach to decision-making, thinking about both qualitative and quantitative impact
  • Help level up the team's strategic capabilities by showing how design can drive business value-not just aesthetics
  • Collaborate in a team-first culture, where success is measured collectively and designers are integrated into the product lifecycle-not an afterthought

Requirements:

  • Corporate, in-house experience - worked on large-scale digital products-not just agency sprints or freelance gigs
  • A strategic UX thinker who can ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and propose experience-led solutions
  • Strong skills in wireframing, user flows, and prototyping-you know how to visualize ideas quickly and clearly
  • Proficiency in Figma is a must
  • Experience working within and contributing to a design system
  • A storyteller who can walk stakeholders through the -why- behind design decisions-what business problem was solved, what user need was met
  • A team player who thrives in collaborative environments, not someone looking to work in a silo
  • Comfortable going toe-to-toe with product owners and engineers, advocating for the user while understanding constraints.
