Job description

Coreshell's metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity, fast-charging, and superior safety. Our low-cost Silicon-dominant batteries have higher energy density, superior intrinsic thermal safety, and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current LIBs. Coreshell's Si anode material is lower than the cost of graphite and utilizes the largest abundant critical mineral supply in the US and Europe. We strive to transform the global energy and transportation market by enabling cost effective and secure domestic battery supply.

Core Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities: We are seeking a Junior Process Engineer to join our battery process technology team. This role supports the development, optimization, and stabilization of electrode, cell assembly, and formation processes. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and eager to grow into a process expert in next‑generation battery technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Process monitoring: Monitor daily production KPIs (yield, scrap, downtime) and identify abnormalities.
  • Data analysis: Analyze process and quality data to support root cause investigations.
  • DOE execution: Assist in planning and running Design of Experiments to optimize process parameters.
  • Equipment support: Work with equipment engineers to troubleshoot process issues.
  • SOP documentation: Create and update standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Quality collaboration: Support quality teams in defect analysis and corrective actions.
  • Sample preparation: Prepare samples for lab testing (adhesion, resistance, thickness, etc.).
  • Cross functional communication: Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to implement improvements.
Preferred Technical Areas
  • Electrode process: mixing, coating, calendering, slitting
  • Cell assembly: stacking/Z‑folding, welding, electrolyte filling, formation
  • Quality systems: SPC, MSA, FMEA
  • Data tools: Python, JMP, Minitab, Tableau (plus)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 0–2 years of experience in battery cell manufacturing (process development, process technology or manufacturing environment preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced production environments
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship or project experience in battery manufacturing
  • Experience with DOE, SPC, or Six Sigma tools
  • Familiarity with lithium‑ion cell structure and production flow
  • Hands‑on experience with lab measurement tools (viscometer, caliper, UTM, etc.)
Location & Benefits

San Leandro, CA. Full‑time. $72,000‑85,000. Salary and equity options are dependent on experience. Dental, vision, healthcare and 401(k) benefits are included. Applications will be screened as received.
