The Journeyman Lineman is responsible for constructing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. This position performs energized and de-energized line work, responds to outages, operates line equipment, and supports safe, reliable electrical service.

Key Responsibilities
- Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
- Install poles, transformers, crossarms, insulators, switches, fuses, arrestors, conductors, and related line equipment.
- String, sag, splice, and terminate wire and cable.
- Perform energized and de-energized line work using approved tools, grounding methods, and protective equipment.
- Troubleshoot outages, locate faults, test equipment, and restore service safely and efficiently.
- Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, winches, and other line-construction equipment.
- Climb poles and work from aerial lifts around high-voltage systems.
- Read and follow blueprints, schematics, line maps, work orders, and construction specifications.
- Inspect and maintain climbing gear, tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Complete job briefings, hazard assessments, daily reports, timesheets, and material documentation.
- Follow OSHA, NESC, NEC, lockout/tagout, grounding, and company safety requirements.
- Respond to emergency outages, storm restoration assignments, and after-hours callouts as needed.
- Train and mentor apprentices and ground personnel in proper linework and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
- Valid Journeyman Lineman certification recognized by the Department of Labor, IBEW, or another applicable authority.
- Completion of a recognized electrical lineman apprenticeship program.
- Minimum four years of electrical linework experience.
- Experience performing energized and de-energized overhead distribution work.
- Knowledge of electrical theory, circuit layouts, grounding, utility infrastructure, and line-construction practices.
- Valid Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record.
- Valid DOT medical card.
- Current Pole Top Rescue, Bucket Truck Rescue, CPR/First Aid, Equi-Potential Grounding, and BuckSqueeze training.
- Ability to read construction prints, schematics, line maps, and work orders.
- Ability to safely operate line trucks, heavy equipment, hand tools, testing equipment, ropes, and rigging.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and travel for storm or mutual-aid assignments.
- Ability to climb poles, work at elevated heights, enter confined spaces, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended shifts and lift up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish wire and cable colors and recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to pass required pre-employment screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 certification
- Previous storm restoration or mutual-aid experience
- Experience mentoring apprentices or leading line crews
