Sign Spinners usually work outdoors, often near busy intersections or storefronts where they can catch the attention of passing pedestrians and drivers. The role is typically part-time or seasonal, with shifts scheduled during peak traffic hours or weekends to maximize visibility. You may need to work in various weather conditions and stand or move for extended periods. While much of the work is done independently, Sign Spinners may meet regularly with a supervisor or team for coordination and support. This job can be a great fit for those who enjoy being active, working outside, and want a flexible schedule.
To thrive as a Sign Spinner, you need physical stamina, coordination, and basic promotional or customer service experience. No formal certifications are required, but some employers may provide training on sign spinning techniques and safety measures. Enthusiasm, reliability, and strong attention to safety help individuals excel in this position. These skills are crucial for attracting attention, increasing foot traffic to businesses, and ensuring the work is performed safely and effectively outdoors.
A Sign Spinning job involves holding and spinning an advertising sign to attract attention to a business, event, or promotion. Sign spinners use creative movements, tricks, and energy to engage passersby and maximize visibility. The job often takes place outdoors and requires enthusiasm, endurance, and the ability to work in varying weather conditions. Sign spinners are typically hired by marketing companies or businesses looking to increase foot traffic and brand awareness.

Great Clips, Inc. was established in Minneapolis, Minnesota by founders David Rubenzer and Steve Lemmon in 1982, a time when most people received haircuts in one of three ways: in full-service hair salons, from barbershops or at home. As a stylist and businessman, David could see that the industry was changing. Customers were looking for a hair salon service that could fit their busy lifestyles and desire for value. To be part of that change – rather than find themselves competing with it – David and Steve developed the then-radical concept of a walk-in haircare salon with weekend and evening hours, offering customers a select list of services, and providing benefits for stylists. After the founders opened several successful hair salons, Ray Barton joined David and Steve as an owner in March 1983. With Ray's help and expertise in franchising, the trio set about growing the Great Clips hair salon brand. That success continues through today.
