ESS Clinical is seeking a School Services School American Sign Language for a local contract job in Tempe, Arizona.

ESS Clinical is seeking a compassionate and skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in partnership with Tempe Elementary School District No. 3, AZ for the 2026–2027 school year.

W2 and 1099 Contracts Available!
Pay $52/hr W2 Contract and $58/hr 1099 Contract!

Position Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) in classroom instruction, IEP meetings, school events, and other educational settings.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, peers, and families while maintaining interpreter neutrality.
  • Support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in accessing curriculum and classroom instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and other related service providers.
  • Assist in implementing accommodations outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, district policies, and professional interpreting standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and district trainings as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
  • Educational interpreting experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score meeting district requirements, when applicable.
  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification and/or Arizona Quality Assurance Screening (IQAS) certification preferred or required based on district assignment.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to employment.
  • Ability to satisfy all Tempe Elementary School District No. 3 and ESS Clinical pre-employment requirements.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
