What are sign companies and what services do they provide?

Sign companies are businesses that design, manufacture, install, and maintain various types of signs for other businesses, organizations, and individuals. Their services often include custom signage design, fabrication of indoor and outdoor signs, installation, permitting, and sometimes repair or maintenance. They may produce signs such as banners, vehicle wraps, digital displays, monument signs, and more. Sign companies help clients improve visibility, brand recognition, and communication with the public. Many also provide consultation to ensure signs meet local regulations and suit marketing needs.

To thrive in the sign company industry, you need skills in graphic design, fabrication, and installation, often supported by experience in visual communications or certifications in sign making. Familiarity with design software like Adobe Creative Suite, large-format printers, CNC routers, and vinyl cutters is typically required. Strong customer service, attention to detail, and project management abilities help professionals stand out in this field. These competencies ensure high-quality, customized signage solutions that meet client expectations and comply with industry standards.

What are some typical daily responsibilities for someone working at a sign company?

Depending on the role, you may work closely with graphic designers, fabricators, and installers to bring client concepts to life.
