General Summary:
The RN Clinic Trainer is responsible for onboarding, educating, and supporting clinical staff to ensure safe, efficient, and standardized patient care across clinic operations. This role serves as a clinical educator, resource, and liaison between leadership and frontline staff, promoting best practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
General Requirements:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner.
  1. Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions for new hires and existing clinic staff.
  2. Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and remediation to support safe and consistent clinical practice.
  3. Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
  4. Navigate complex situations with professionalism and critical thinking.
  5. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  1. Designs and delivers onboarding and ongoing clinical training for RNs, LVNs, MAs, and other clinic staff.
  2. Ensures clinic workflows and clinical practices align with organizational policies, evidence-based standards, and regulatory requirements.
  3. Provides hands-on training and competency validation for clinical skills, equipment, and procedures.
  4. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to staff, offering guidance, feedback, and performance support.
  5. Collaborates with clinic leadership to identify training needs and address performance or knowledge gaps.
  6. Develops, updates, and maintains training materials, competency checklists, and educational resources.
  7. Supports implementation of new clinical programs, workflows, and initiatives across clinic sites.
  8. Monitors adherence to infection control, safety, and quality standards and provides corrective education as needed.
  9. Assists with EHR and clinical documentation training to promote accuracy and compliance.
  10. Evaluates training effectiveness through observation, feedback, and outcome tracking.
  11. Provides remediation and follow-up training for staff as identified by audits, incidents, or leadership requests.
  12. Acts as a liaison between clinics, providers, and support departments to ensure consistent clinical practices.
  13. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes clinical insight to process optimization.
  14. Maintains current clinical knowledge and professional licensure in accordance with state and organizational requirements.

Education and Training:
A graduate of an accredited RN program and possess a current TX RN License, or related associate's degree from an accredited vocational institution or military equivalent training required. CPR/Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required. Three-Five years of supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of case management, laboratory service, quality management, utilization management and risk management preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
Experience:
Experience in a clinic, doctor's office or hospital with a minimum of one-year experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
Computer Skills: Skilled in use of computer/EMR systems. Knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet, and database software. Required to provided bed-side nursing when needed or during peak volume hours.
Work Environment:
Clinic environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Mental / Physical Requirements:
Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure.
