Job description

The Skilled Laborer - Asphalt Crew performs a variety of manual labor and equipment-related tasks associated with asphalt paving, patching, grading, and roadway construction projects. This position works closely with crew members and equipment operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality asphalt operations.

Job Duties 

  • Preparing work sites
  • Operating heavy machinery (if needed)
  • Applying and smoothing hot asphalt mix to exact thickness and slope specifications.
  • Traffic Safety

Job Responsibilities 

  • Site preparation
  • Material Application
  • Equipment operation
  • Joint and Surface Finishing
  • Cleanup and Maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including overtime, when required.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as rakes, lutes, shovels and tampers to spread and smooth asphalt
  • Knowledge of road regulations, flagging and OSHA safety standards
