Patient Care Coordinator-Front Desk 1

The employees of Dexter Oral Surgery & Implant Center will be, above all, positive, hard working, team-oriented, personable, and committed to continuous improvement.

-Answer phone first (FD2-second, FD3-third, PM-fourth) and schedule appointments accordingly; or, triage calls to Surgical Assistant, Doctor, or other relevant party. Schedule new patients and other appointments as needed.

-Process payments

-Communicate with other offices regarding patient needs, care, or documents

-Greet patients and have them fill out all necessary paperwork; make copies of driver’s license and insurance cards; offer coffee/water to all (except NPO patients); communicate with back staff on patient readiness for rooms via DSN or verbally

-Tidy waiting room and ensure coffee area and mini-fridge are stocked; empty trash as necessary and sweep any salt/dirt/etc. as it accumulates; magazine management

-Check patient bathroom for tidiness; tidy and empty trash as necessary

-Tidy front desk and empty trash as necessary

-Monitor waiting room to ensure timely patient access to doctor and arrivals

-Scan patient’s files and documents (consents, health histories, referral slips, etc. from the “Done & Shred file) & shred documents once scanned

-Confirmation Calls

-Assist in obtaining insurance benefits as needed for upcoming patients and making sure patient’s Insurance Plans are up to date in system

-Obtain referral slips and x-rays for all upcoming consultations (for next day’s appointments) and prepare folder of daily patients

-Preparing fee estimates from teleconsultations for patients, based on insurance benefits; send via Docusign. Interface with clinical staff on consultation spreadsheet and consents that need to be emailed. Eventually, be able to assist with presentation of fee estimates for in-person consult/treat appointments or consultations.

-Attendance and participation at monthly staff meetings, familiarity drills, and other training

-Input patient information into iCore RX as directed

Soft Skills:

-Superior customer service, including but not limited to going above and beyond to meet patient needs, making every effort to satisfy patients

-Talking to patients in person and on phone in a positive and edifying manner

-Honesty, humility, and sincerity

This position is a 4 day/week position and should expect to work 32-36 hours per week. Potential to work more hours in the future.

Salary Range: $15-19, commensurate with experience
